Jaipur Metro is a state-of-the-art rapid transit system serving the Pink City of Jaipur. It is planned in two phases, of which Phase 1 is operational and subject to further expansion. At less than 10 km route length, it is one of the smallest metro systems in India. Like many metros in India, it uses 1435 mm (standard gauge) track and 25 kV AC through overhead catenary. The four-car trains run at a top speed of 80 km/h, and the time between trains ranges from 10 minutes during peak hours to 15 minutes during non-peak hours.
Jaipur Metro Information
Jaipur Metro is an urban mass rapid transit system (MRTS) with 11.98 km lines and 11 stations, built to serve Jaipur, the capital and largest city of Rajasthan.
Construction work on the 9.63 km Phase 1 (Pink Line) of this metro with 9 stations started in 2011. This mostly elevated line was opened for commercial services in June 2015.
Construction on Jaipur Metro’s 2.35 km Phase 1B, an underground extension of the Pink Line with 2 stations, began in January 2014, partly through a $157 million (₹ 969 crore) loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Funded by. This extension became operational on September 23, 2020.
The 23 km Phase 2 of this metro includes a new Orange Line which will connect the heart of the city near the airport and the Sitapura Industrial Area. This line is planned to be built on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and has not been approved yet.

Jaipur Metro Pink Line
Beginning services on June 3, 2015, the Pink Line of the Jaipur Metro is currently the only operational line on the system. It has a southwest-northeast course, measuring over 9.5 km; There are nine stations on the line. The line uses standard gauge (1435 mm) track and 25 kV AC through overhead wires. The trains consist of four coaches, and they travel at a maximum speed of 80 km/h. During peak hours, trains run at a frequency of 10 minutes, which reduces to 15 minutes during non-peak hours.

Jaipur Metro fares are calculated based on the number and type of stations visited:
Token (best for solo travel) – Minimum Rs.6 and maximum Rs.18 for traveling during off-peak hours
• 0 to 2 stations: Rs 6
• 3 to 5 stations: Rs 12
• 6 to 8 stations: Rs 18
Store Value Cards (best for multiple trips) offer the following discounts:
• Less than Rs 10 – Blue
• Rs 10 to Rs. Rs 19.99 – 10%
• Rs 20 or more – 15%
Two types of tourist cards are offered for unlimited visits:
- One-day Tour Card : Rs. 100 total, with a fare value of Rs 50. 50 and refundable security deposit of Rs.
- Three-day Tour Card : Rs. Total 200, the fare value of which is Rs. 150 and refundable security deposit of Rs 50.
- Group Tickets : Issued for groups of more than 20 passengers at a 10% discount

Jaipur Metro Facilities
Passengers using Jaipur Metro Rail services have access to various facilities at both underground and elevated stations. The stations have escalators and ramps as well as shopping spaces and entertainment areas. Passengers can use feeder bus services to reach the stations. Apart from this, passengers can also park their cars at each station.
Automated station announcements are recorded in Hindi and English. Parking, ATM and cell phone recharge booths are available at many stations. Eating, smoking and drinking are prohibited throughout the system. Additionally, the metro has a sophisticated fire alarm system that provides advanced notification in the event of an emergency, and fire-resistant materials are employed in both the trains and the station premises.
